If any of you Jewels fans and friends have been missing seeing them play live lately and/or are wondering, “where did they go?!”…here’s a little update for you

The past year brought:

*A flurry of gigs, including an official showcase at the 2007 SWRFA (Southwest Regional Folk Alliance)

*A live podcast on Austin Connection (available for your listening pleasure here: AFJ Podcast)

*The August spread in the Naked 2008 Calendar (photographed by Matt Lankes). This is the third year of the Naked Calendar’s production. Each year, it features local musicians in the buff, strategically covered by instruments and props and all proceeds from the sales benefit ACMAWF–the Austin Children of Musicians, Artists, and Writers Fund

*A write up in “The Cusp” section of the October 2007 issue of Austin Monthly Magazine

AND on the personal front, the year brought two beautiful new Jewel babies (to both Stephen Kearley and Elizabeth Suggs) and a cross-state relocation for Lauren Dickson. The distance and new personal endeavors have kept the Jewels laying low for a few months but they’re gearing up for a couple of spring shows and are planning more gigs and recording projects for the future.
